In my thirty years as creator, proprietor and now co-owner of Emily’s Bakery, I've experienced how interconnected we are. My time as a Santa Cruz city council member and my two terms as Santa Cruz Mayor only served to deepen that understanding. Now I take the things I've learned as a business owner, an employer, a parent, a mayor and use them to inform the process, as I help people during important transitions. I also learned even more about the city and the region through my work on the Executive Committee of the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments, as Chair of the Long Range Development Plan for UCSC, as a member of the Board of the Tannery Arts Center, the Drought Appeals Board, the Regional Transportation Commission and various others. Now I use that knowledge while assisting people as they sell one home and buy another. It's a dance and I get to be the choreographer. It's challenging and fun and it's my job to manage everything in a way that allows my clients to just hand their stress to me when we hit a bump in the road. Whether buying a first home, going larger, smaller or just moving to a different spot, my clients find me to be responsive, resourceful and dedicated to them and I'm grateful for the privilege.
